Ms wheelchair ny 2018 address mental health as a support in the disability community

wo weeks ago I got that awesome call from La shawn  who is the founder of Social Work Diva after being motorviated by her work and stories  related to life and mental health,

It allowed me to reflect back on my journey and one day I sent her an e-mail  telling her I will like her help in bringing mental health awareness/support into the disability community because is just not talked about.. she agreed to help  me bring my vision and allowing it to shine.

When I talked with her this week I asked her the question do you need a diagnoses to receive mental health services? She said no.. I was relieve by that

I want people with disabilities including myself to know it okay to seek mental  health support having a disability is a gift but is not always easy

talking to someone.. using therapy as a support for yourself is okay... i open that door i took that stand to be an advocate and ally  why me you will learn more about my reasons towards bringing awareness

the exciting news is that during the last few weeks of my reign. I'll be working on putting together a campaign related to mental health and disability..

Over the next few days I'll be putting together my writing of a personal refection on why me? Why I should be the one to lead this project on Mental health

Last year I wrote this piece on my Put the able in disabled blog
