My first experience at the Abilities Expo New Metro NJ

May 4-5 2019

For the first time ever I was able to attend the Abilities Expo  in New York Metro in NJ. It was such an impact, empowering experience.

Besides the Disability Pride parade in NYC this is another opportunity I got to see the Disability community come together between adults, kids, siblings, parents and children with disabilities. During my time I got to meet many of the little kids/ teenagers with disabilities with their parents/families and they just truly made heart smile not as a scene of pity or feeling sorry for them

I have so much hope of possibilities for children with disabilities and their parents. I know what it's like to be in their shoes now as i look at life now being an advocate and a young adult with a disability..

I have a strong vision to great opportunities for our little ones and youth with disabilities especially in my community Brooklyn.

At the Abilities EXPO.. I got to network and connect with other people, business and organizations.. schools too.

As a titleholder and member of the Ms Wheelchair America Program. I was able to spread the word and recruit little Miss/Miss to the organization.

Since the Abilities Expo people who stopped by  the miss wheelchair america booth to learn more about the work amazing ladies like my self do as Ms Wheelchair NY 2018 and have the opportunity to meet past and current titleholders.

They have reached out to me to attend and be apart of conferences, teachers has reach out to me for possibilities to speak at their schools/camps in NYC/ Westchester   areas. I even reach out to a school for children with Cerebral Palsy in Philly.

I think this opportunity will truly help in enhance my leadership skills because I was able to share with others the advocacy work i do within an beyond my current platform.

I will be able to speak at different places near and far to share my story and my work as Ms Wheelchair NY 2018 and what I plan to do in the future

Being at the Abilities Expo I discovered new things and was able to try them such as the famous adaptive rock climbing.

Pictures will be posted soon

Thanks to Pat Figueroa Scholarship I am honored to be a recipient of this scholarship that gives youth like myself the opportunity to  attend events like this
