November 3. 2017- Includenyc College is Possible event keynote speaker
December 6, 2017- Adapt Community Network Santa Project event supporting the pre-schoolers for the holiday season
January 24. 2018- Spoke to  5th grade classes about the importance of inclusion, how they can be an ally to the disability community and the correct language they can use when speaking with or about some with a disability @ Abraham Jousha Heschel School
Feburary 13, 2018- Visit the Brooklyn Center for Independence and spoke with the youth in transition group about my Ms Wheelchair NY 2018 platform
March 27- Diversity town hall and featured on News 12 at this event share my platform and make sure people with disabilities was included in this conversation and to promote diversity and equality for all
April 7. 2018 Judge for the New York Miss Amazing
April 11. 2018 Panel Speaker @ the 4th Annual Diversity and inclusion form with Empire State College
May 3.   Attended and featured in a special edition of street soldiers called education town hall with Lisa Evers
May 7. 2018 Meet with the Process management Ariel Peters and her team @ the special education office division of specialized instruction and student support to discuss how they can increase disability awareness in schools and get the students to develop self advocacy skills

May 11. 2018- Had a meeting with the District 19 superintendent to discuss how we can have disability awareness celebrated in schools and how I can enroll self advocacy in his schools.
June 1. 2018- Tabling at a health fair event with the Brooklyn center for independence of the disabled at a local high school in Brooklyn sharing with them about Ms Wheelchair ny and my platform


June 13- Town hall event with school chancellor Richard Carranza in the district 15 community


June 14- Spoke at the Brooklyn Public Library about  Supported Decision Making- An alternative to gradianship- I spoke about my experience as a decision maker


June 25- Keynote speaker at P.S 190 5th grade graduating class


June 27. Evening out with my Extreme kids and crew team that I started volunteering with in January 2018 after being crown Ms Wheelchair NY 2018

Sept 28- Presenting the first ever disability awareness workshop to the department of education employees and sharing my story with them from a perception of being a student with a disability in  the public school system


Oct 10: Presented at the state of the art student leadership conference on post secondary education for those students with intellectual and  developmental disabilities: I presented on Support decision making.
Oct 23.Visited the Brooklyn transition college access center and met with the director to discuss possibly developing my own self advocacy curriculum to do with the students with disabilities that they serve and how I can partner with them on the work they do


Oct 29; Spoke to librarians about ways they can make their libraries more inclusive and start or have me start an advocacy group like how I started my own group Voices of Power at Grand Army Plaza library


Oct 31- Attended Mount Sinai Rehab Fair, As a brand ambassador for the accessible van company Bussani Mobility Team  
November 7. Meet and greet with the respectability team that is hosting training for girls and women with disabilities to prepare them for civic engagement
November 16- Visited St Mary's Children   Hospital


November 17-  Youth Power youth leadership forum guest speaker in NYC
Dec 7. 2018  Spoke at Voice’s United Voice’s united Self advocacy group in Long Island JCC

Jan 21: A DR King celebration and spoke on a panel about
economic justice within the importance of accessibility, the need to stop focusing on the zip code, skin color, gender, zip code
and the need to focus on ability 
Jan 24: Attended the Center for school improvement Leadership Institute through the American Federation of teachers at the UFT in NYC I spoke on a panel representing youth and school improvement as a person with a disability

January 26- attended a training with respectability on intersectionality among girls and women with disabilities


Feb 14- Spoke to the Youth in Transition Group @BCID


Feb 16- Visited the Girls Crew Group at Extreme KIds and Crew
Feb 28- Visited to the The Richard H Hungerford School and spoke to their girl scout troop about self advocacy and being MS Wheelchair NY 2018

March 8- Visited Ps 37R and did story time with their girl scout troop

March 9- Round table tip talk with mothers of students with disabilities on networking, hope for their child or love one with a disability, positive disability identity and celebrate success

Hi. My name is Ketrina. On October 28.2017 I was crowned.  I am the currently the MS Wheelchair NY 2018. It is truly an honor to be able to represent New York, people with disabilities and bring awareness to the disability community. My platform as Ms Wheelchair NY 2018 is to bring self advocacy into schools for students with disabilities and make schools more of an inclusive environment. Attended my 1st Cerebral Palsy

Oct 7. 2019 I attended my first Cerebral Palsy Conference in Hartford CT.through an organization called Green Mountain Support Services  To those who may not know I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 9 months old.  When I found out  out this conference related to my disability Cerebral Palsy. I knew I wanted to attend because throughout my childhood life nothing like this existed. For the 1st time I was surround by people with different types of cerebral palsy doing amazing things.. I also hosted my 1st breakout session called Dream Big Self Confidence through Self Advocacy..where i shared my story through my message through hope there is possibilities it was truly a pack house. I also had an expo table displaying my journey as Ms Wheelchair NY 2018. I might some amazing people such as the young lady in the photo above. The lack of accessibility for students with disabilities in schools

Recently I been looking at news media articles discussing the lack of accessibility in nyc public schools.. This also means the ability to fully access the school building. When I was going to school in NYC public schools I always had it in my mind that all public schools were wheelchair accessible weather the location is on the side of the building. At that time I thought that was okay. We struggle to be included and fit in with our peers.. be apart of the school community even if it's just simply being able to attend a school trip with their classmates. Yet students with disabilities being shut out of schools. Not only students with disabilities are being shut out of schools due to the lack of accessibility.. Parents have less options on were their child can attend school and it unfortunately the same for potential and actual employees with disabilities within the NYC public schools especially for those who are wheelchair users.
