Respectability Submit on Capital hill

From Washington to Hollywood and Beyond: The Future of Americans with Disabilities

A day inside Capital Hill for me I was speechless.. I really felt like I reached there because I am making an impact for people with disabilities

On July 22, 2019 I was invited to attend the Respectability Submit on Capital Hill. They reached our to the Ms Wheelchair NY Program extended their invitation to us because they want to develop a partnership with the organization because they believe the Ms Wheelchair NY organization carriers a similar mission as Respectability "Fighting Stigma.. Advancing Opportunities>>"

At the submit I heard from many influenced indivduals in the disability community who spoke on topics impacting millions of people with disabilities.

Topics addressed throughout the submit was proven strategies for creating large and influential networks
Public Policy and jobs for people with disabilities

 Disability, Creativity and Purpose

Ending the school to Prison Pipeline for students with disabilities

This experienced allowed me to meet members of congress.

I was able to hear from indivduals who is changing the face on Disability in media which was great because I always hear people say to me

Girl you going to be in a movie one day.

I also got to hear and talk with people with disabilities share their success within advocacy stories

This truly empowered me to keep on going because as a community.. we are slowly striving together to succeed, accomplish and make a difference in the world

Being apart of this event allowed me to have a change of perception on things. As a young leader living in an under serve community with mostly people of color as well. This encourages me to want to address more within the issue of     Ending the school to Prison Pipeline for students with disabilities

Because I see the problem and will like to be a voice of solution for our young ones growing up
.
I am working on becoming apart of my local community board and becoming a global diva ambassador to help bring girls and women of color with disabilities together to help break down stigma and see the beauty of disability

This opportunity as allowed me to develop a vision for youth in my community that is being impacted by different systems by helping them be okay with breaking their silence. coming up with a platform and action plan.
